50th Kocian Violin Competition
8th – 10th May 2008, ZUŠ J. Kociana
Akord Kvint could not miss this outstanding contest of young violin players.
A year had passed and we could meet again young and talented violin players, interesting people in the jury as well as in the audience and, of course, our friends from Ústí nad Orlicí, the keen organisers of Kocian Violin Competition.
It is a tradition that Akord Kvint spol. s r. o. donated a master violin built by Mr Jan Lorenz for the absolute winner – the Laureate of the Kocian Violin Competition. We were very happy to see that the winner was our protégé, Matouš Michal, a fosterling of ZUŠ in Police nad Metují, a school sponsored by us. Nowadays Matouš Michal is a student of professor Jaroslav Foltýn at the Prague music conservatory.
Throughout the competition, we were exhibiting concert and master instruments built by Jan Fronk, Jan Lorenz, Josef Holpuch, Petr Rácz and Karel Poplštein, all of them master violinmakers.
